Syria: Obama's juggernaut

President Obama has put himself in quite a predicament. By establishing a red line for Syria, one so far out that he was sure Assad would not be so reckless as to cross it, he was not prepared (for some reason) for the eventuality that chemical weapons would be used. Obama's Bluff has been called.

He is caught now between projecting weakness or blundering into war. But, according to George Friedmann at stratfor.com,“That's the hand the president has to play, so it's hard to see how he avoids military action and retains credibility. It is also hard to see how he takes military action without a political revolt against him if it goes wrong, which it usually does.”

The problem is, did al Assad's forces use the chemical agents? Or did the Islamist rebels do it? Certainly operatives of al-Qaeda would have no qualms filming the poisoning of an entire village, women, men, and children. There is now evidence that Syrian rebels used chemical agents - not Assad

Despite the dangerous situation for the Middle East, Mr. Obama's America, and the world, Christian Zionist Les Lawrence says that whatever transpires with the international community and Syria, that you can rest assured it is not the beginning of World War III, by which he means the Gog-Magog War of Ezekiel 38-39. Prophetically, there are still events that will happen before that one. Still to happen, according to Lawrence, is the destruction of Damascus found in Isaiah 17, which we may see at this time, and the so-called Psalm 83 War, when a coalition of Israel’s enemies turn on each other ending in decisive Israeli victory.

Still, we can be assured that any action executed by President Obama against Syria will stir the dangerous Russian bear. Israel Times reports that Russia has sent at least 12 warships to the Mediterranean to monitor the situation.

There are also reports that Russian troops are landing and deploying on Syrian soil to support the al Assad government.

The term, juggernaut, means an overwhelming force or obstacle, like a war. It is derived from the Hindi, Jagannath, an idol of Krishna, at Puri in Orissa, India, which is annually drawn on an enormous cart under whose wheels devotees are said to have thrown themselves to be crushed. It could be that the President or his America may be the next devotee sacrificed to the Jagannath god.
