Obituary

Amanda's birth father, whom she never met, will be buried today in Alabama. His life was unfortunately a waste, and it seems that he left a mess behind with everyone he ever encountered. But one good thing he did -- he was responsible for my sweet wife. Amanda prayed for him growing up, and hoped to see him on the other side one day, but it appears as if he was forever lost. He died in his sleep in a nursing home from complications of diabetes and heart disease.

The following obituary appeared this week in the Montgomery Advertiser. You'll notice that whoever wrote the obit thinks Amanda lives in West Virginia.

NIXON, John Benjamin, Jr. 52, died Wednesday, January 25, 2006 after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. from Gassett Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Cain's Chapel Cemetery. Mr. Nixon is survived by his wife, Donna Johnson-Nixon of Wetumpka; three daughters, Carmen Nixon of Montgomery, Amanda Brooks of West Virginia, and Ashley Nixon of Wetumpka; parents, John, B. Nixon, Sr., and Charlotte Nixon, of Slapout; three brothers, Henry R. Nixon and Jason W. Nixon of Wetumpka and Rusty Nixon of Deatsville; and a granchild, Preston Brooks. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday at Gassett Funeral Home.
