We just found out that one of our dear friends, Marvin Newlin, was part of the Scripp's National Spelling Bee in Washington, DC! Congratulations, Marvin, a homeschooler from Mebane, NC. He was speller #172.His parents, Shannon and Beth Newlin, became friends with me when they came from NC to be on staff at the US Center for World Mission in Pasadena, CA. At that time, I was living at the USCWM and attending Fuller Seminary. I remember the day they brought Marvin home from the hospital.
Congratulations again, Mr. Marvin Spellorator Newlin!
