I have joined the Lt. Col. Maurice T. Smith Camp #171, Sons of Confederate Veterans, an historical organization for descendants of soldiers who fought for the South in Lincoln's War. Wife encouraged it, said I needed something enjoyable to do just for fun. They say I'll get a certificate, too. Even saw my name in the SCV national magazine listed under North Carolina. The ancestor I joined under is Pvt. Samuel Pharis Templeton, Co. A "Laurens Briars," then Co. I, Third Regiment, South Carolina Volunteers. He is buried under the big cedar tree at Rocky Springs Presbyterian Church in Laurens, SC.
