William Booth on Calling
|
General William Booth | |
"'Not called!' did you say? 'Not heard the call,' I think you should say.
"Put your ear down to the Bible, and hear Him bid you go and pull sinners out of the fire of sin. Put your ear down to the burdened, agonized heart of humanity, and listen to its pitiful wail for help.
"Go stand by the gates of hell, and hear the damned entreat you to go to their father's house and bid their brothers and sisters and servants and masters not to come there.
"Then look Christ in the face — whose mercy you have professed to obey — and tell Him whether you will join heart and soul and body and circumstances in the march to publish His mercy to the world."
---- William Booth, founder of the Salvation Army
Christian's
ReplyDeleteWilliam Booth was truly a man of God! His love for our Savior Jesus Christ and his love for the poor and down trodden made the Salvation Army what it is! William Booth was born in Nottingham,England on April 10,1829.He went to be with the Lord on August 20,1912.
My aunt & Uncle Fred & Sadie Boyette retired as Brigadier's with 105 years service between them. They never had children of their own, but loved all children! I have in my posession original books written by Evangeline Booth,(William's daughter)published in 1928. I was raised as a child in the ministries of the Salvation Army. These dedicated servants of Christ receive very little pay in dollars, but are rewarded with the knowledge that they are keepers of William Booth's legacy and knowing that they are doing God's work!I am a born again Christian and the person that I am because of the Salvation Army!
