Hope and Change

58 new US House and 6 new US Senate seats, a shift of power in 19 state legislatures including both houses in North Carolina for the first time since 1898, the first woman governor in South Carolina history, and the first Congressman from Laurens County, SC, in 114 years. All Republicans.

  1. Overall, I am very pleased with the election outcome. Would have liked to see the conservatives take over the Senate, but we'll get another chance in 2 years.

  2. Wally J, this is probably the better scenario because there was enough of a gain in the Senate to keep a more foolishness and corruption at bay. We did not need a majority in the Senate, or there would be the argument in 2012 that people put Republicans back in power in 2010 and didn't do anything. The Republican control of the House (and most of them Reagan conservatives) is key because the House controls the origination of all spending bills.
