We have had a great time this week with our friend Dennis Aggrey from Liberia, West Africa. Dennis literally kept us from starving or getting left on the side of the road in Liberia. This picture is from February 2004, at the beautiful but at that time abandoned port of Buchanan, in Liberia.
He is a great friend, and he has focused on rest here. He will spend the first week of June in Laurens, SC, and then be back here until June 17. Because we went through so much together in Liberia, he's just like a member of the family. Luke, whom Dennis finally met when we picked him up last Saturday, kisses Uncle Dennis night-night each evening.
We picked Dennis up at the Airport Sheraton in Charlotte last Saturday at the end of the Samaritan's Purse conference in Boone, NC.
Exams at the seminary were over this week, and we await grades. While I took exams, Dennis got information on the doctoral programs at Southeastern.
Today we enjoyed the Summerfest Memorial Day Parade in Virgilina, VA, about five miles from our home. A lot of fire trucks! I guess you should expect that when the Virgilina Fire Dept. sponsors the event! Our church's Casey Brewer is the Fire Dept. Chaplain, and his brother, Shane puts out fires.
Tomorrow at church we have Baccalaureate Sunday, and our little church has eleven graduates!
