Happy Valentine's Day

Roses are red: Comedian Jack Benny and Mary Livingstone had been married for 48 years when Jack passed away in 1974. The day after Benny's death, his wife, Mary, received one long-stemmed rose from a florist. The next day, another came. When Mary called to ask about the deliveries, she learned that Benny had stipulated in his will, "one perfect red rose daily for the rest of Mary's life."

Isidor Straus was aboard the Titanic with his wife of 41 years, Ida. When the passengers were being evacuated, Straus (a retail magnate) was offered a place in a lifeboat. He refused to leave while other gentlemen remained aboard. Ida handed her fur coat to her maid and directed her to a lifeboat. She then told her husband "We have been together for many years. Where you go, I shall go."

UPDATE: 8:00am: HAPPY VALENTINE'S SNOW! We woke up this morning to three inches of snow on the ground. It all blew in between 9pm and midnight last night. A beautiful day. It's the kids' first real snow they've seen our first real snow since we moved up here to northern Granville County two years ago. With two quizzes, Psalms class in Wake Forest, and a member in a Raleigh hospital today, I think the kids and Amanda will be having all the fun outside.
